Welcome to FreeBike Project

HOW IT WORKS

Students want easy and fast transportation to get around campus. Companies want to reach the young and influential demographic. Our idea is to combine both through an innovative bicycle marketing concept so that everybody wins!

It just takes 2 minutes. We will contact you as soon as we have an available bike.

GET A BIKE

Once available we hand you a bike and a lock in return for a $99 security deposit.

FUN PHOTOS

Post a fun photo with your bike once a month to help support us and your sponsor.

RETURN IT

Return your bike at the end of the school year and get back your security deposit.

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN MARKETING?

Part of being a FreeBiker is to share fun photos on social media in return for your free bike lease. We believe in quality over quantity and therefore only require one post per month. To keep it fun and unique, we prepare different themes every month, and if you post an extra cool photo you might get forever “immortalized” in our FreeBike Hall of Fame.

Not just a free bike lease

Cycling not only allows us to travel fast and conveniently, it also helps reduce our carbon footprint while strengthening our physical condition. Since 1990 cycling has more than doubled in the US, indicating a vast growth in environmental and health awareness. We want to take this one step further by promoting free cycling, eco-friendly marketing and charity (read below).

Help kids overseas with pedal power

To improve the mobility in rural communities of developing countries, we have partnered with the non-profit Bikes For The World to help send bikes overseas. In doing so we help families gain access to water, food and education. Since the launch of our partnership, we have helped send 200+ bikes to high school students who live in remote villages, miles from the nearest school.

  • "The FreeBike Project has been so helpful to me this year! Getting the bike was painless. All I had to do was pick it up on campus and then I had a bike to ride for the rest of the school year. The bike is so useful because I’m usually running late to wherever I’m going, but the bike helps cut my travel time in half. I also think that the monthly instagram “themes” to promote the bikes are really fun!"

  • "FreeBike Project is such an awesome organization, especially for college students who participate together. It has given my friend and I an excuse to get off campus to explore and test our creativity in new ways!"

  • "The FreeBIke Project is an incredibly innovative win-win-win situation. First, I as a Harvard college student can ride my bike to class, work, and all around campus, while, second, companies get quite some attention from their ads (I’ve even been approached several times by people curious about the ads). Third and best of all, the profits help make transportation for students in remote places possible, which makes the project all the more meaningful."

  • "I needed a bike to get around campus, but most bikes were either ridiculously expensive or cheap but of poor quality. The people at FreeBike Project have found a way to provide high quality, low maintenance bikes for absolutely free. Had a breeze getting around campus this year. All this for FREE too. Glad I joined the FreeBike Movement."

  • "I can’t be more ecstatic about the FreeBike Project! Everyone always asks how I got my bike (because it’s an amazing bike) and I’m more than happy to tell them that I got it for free. All I’m really expected to do is enjoy it. The program is pure genius and I couldn’t be happier!"
